Hi there! My name is Darren, but my foster mom affectionately calls me Dixon. I'm a Lab Retriever Mix, about 55lbs, and my estimated birthday is November 25, 2024. I'm a survivor, ready for my second chance at a life filled with love and belly rubs! My foster mom tells me I deserve a fresh start, and I'm working hard every day to show her she made the right decision. When I first arrived, I was a bit shy, but with time and gentle encouragement, I've blossomed into a confident and loving companion. I adore my foster siblings, especially the younger one who's my favorite playmate! I also love the kids and can't wait to be part of a family. I'm a smart cookie and know "sit" and "shake." I even have a special trick called "Pray" that will melt your heart! I love nudging my foster mom's arm for a little attention and a good head scratch. I may not be the most handsome guy right now as my skin is healing, but the medicated baths are worth it because I'm feeling better every day, and my foster mom gives the best massages! My kennel is my safe space, and I happily go in for treats and praise. I'm just looking for a family to cherish me forever. Could that be you?

Ideal Home

I'd love a home where I'll be cherished. A playful dog sibling to wrestle and romp with would be the icing on the cake!

Ongoing Health

My skin is currently healing, and I receive medicated baths weekly to help my fur grow back.

Training & Support

I'm kennel and house trained. I enjoy praise and treats, and I'm eager to please!

Transportation

I'm currently located in Houston, TX. Transport is included in the adoption fee and can take me to your state or a neighboring state. Pickup locations may vary. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states. You'll be able to track the van using the Life360 app and receive updates.
