Niko Bear might look like he's ready for his own action movie with his ruggedly handsome looks and a few charming scars, but don't let that fool you! Beneath that tough exterior is one of the sweetest, gentlest souls you'll ever meet. He's a true teddy bear in disguise, approximately 4 years old and weighing around 74 lbs. We believe he's a Pittie/Shepherd mix, but with rescues, it's always a bit of a mystery! Niko has a wonderfully calm and easygoing nature, preferring to mosey through life at his own pace. He's not demanding of attention but enjoys quiet companionship. He can take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he does, he'll lean his whole body weight into you for affection – it’s incredibly heartwarming!
Ideal Home
Niko would be happiest in a home with a backyard where he can enjoy spending time outdoors at his leisure. He would do best with another dog who enjoys companionship without needing a constant playmate, someone who appreciates hanging out together while doing their own thing.
Ongoing Health
Niko is up to date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. He has received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments and is on a monthly heartworm preventative. He has also been tested for heartworms.
Training & Support
Niko is potty trained and has excellent house manners. He is working on building confidence with his crate, but is showing daily improvement and is not destructive. He is also getting more comfortable with leash walking, and we believe he'll be a great companion for neighborhood strolls.

- The adoption fee is $1,000, which includes all vetting, preventatives, microchip with lifetime registration, a Martingale collar, health certificate, and transport.
- A $87 surcharge applies due to transportation costs.
Transporation
Niko is currently located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our USDA-certified transport system, with drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada. Transport tracking, photo updates, and a dedicated Facebook event page are provided. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
