ISN'T DOROTHY JUST THE CUTEST LIL THING?!
Meet Dorothy: A sweet, loving 2-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua mix who is learning how to be a dog and needs a special home! The world can be a scary place for Dorothy. Loud noises, sudden movements, unfamiliar people, and new environments can make her feel overwhelmed. When she's frightened, she hides under her beloved teddy bear, searching for the safety she didn't always have. But beneath that fear is a sweet, intelligent little girl who is trying so hard. With patience, gentle encouragement, and time, Dorothy begins to let her guard down. She'll roll over for belly rubs, play fetch with her squeaky toys, solve treat puzzles in record time, and show off everything she's learned. She knows commands like sit, down, wait, leave it, and crate. She absolutely adores treats, especially freeze-dried beef liver, bully sticks, and string cheese. Dorothy's journey has been one of overcoming challenges, and every day she grows a little braver, a little more trusting, and a little more confident. She isn't looking for perfection; she's looking for someone who won't give up on her! Some dogs need saving; Dorothy needs someone willing to teach her what love, security, and family truly mean. Dorothy may take longer to trust than most dogs, but for the right person, helping her bloom will be one of the most rewarding journeys imaginable.
Ideal Home
Dorothy needs a very special home. She requires an adult-only home with calm, patient people who understand that healing isn't always a straight line. She needs someone committed to the long haul, willing to celebrate the small victories and work through the setbacks. A confident, playful dog companion could help show her the ropes, and experience with positive reinforcement and fearful dogs would be a huge bonus. She cannot live in a home with children.
