Festus

Festus is a handsome hound mix, weighing around 58lbs and estimated to be about a year and a half old. He's a very gentle giant who walks beautifully on a leash and truly enjoys the company of other dogs. Festus came to us as a stray, showing signs of a past dog attack, but he has since been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is up-to-date on flea and tick prevention. He's also currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which will be completed in January 2026. We will continue to cover the cost of his heartworm treatment if he finds his forever home. Festus seems to be easily house-trained, as he’s not a fan of kennels. If you're looking for a loyal, big-hearted companion, Festus would be a wonderful addition to your family. As a hound, he may have a strong prey drive, which is something to consider if you have an unfenced farm.

Ideal Home

Festus would thrive in a home where he can be a beloved member of the family. Potential adopters should be aware that Festus is a hound and may enjoy hunting, so an unfenced farm might not be ideal.

Ongoing Health

Festus is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, with the final treatment scheduled for January 2026. The cost of his ongoing treatment will be covered by us. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and flea/tick prevention.

Training & Support

Festus walks well on a leash and seems to be very close to being fully house-trained. He shows no aversion to other dogs.
