Meet Stella!
This beautiful 4-year-old, 40-pound female Chow Chow has been through more than any dog should, yet she greets everyone with quiet kindness and a gentle heart. When Stella arrived, it was clear she had been suffering from a severely damaged eye, causing constant pain. To relieve her suffering, her eye was removed. Despite this ordeal, Stella's sweet spirit never wavered. She trusted her caregivers and has been healing beautifully. With one eye, she's now experiencing life free from daily pain.
Stella can be a little shy initially but warms up quickly once she feels safe. She absolutely adores being petted and brushed, soaking up every bit of affection. She has wonderful manners, is very neat with her potty habits, walks nicely on a leash, and rides quietly in the car. Veterinary staff found her to be sweet and easy to handle. Stella has shown no reaction to male dogs but doesn't seem to enjoy the company of female dogs. She also appears to have no prey drive, happily ignoring outdoor cats and squirrels. Toys are a new concept to her, making us wonder if she's ever had the chance to simply be a dog. Now that she's recovered and her cone is off, we're excited for her to discover the joy of playing and living the carefree life she deserves. We're awaiting biopsy results, but her resilience is already clear. Stella asks for a family who will see her beautiful, loving soul beyond her missing eye. Please don't let her missing eye cause her to be overlooked; she is every bit as beautiful, deserving, and loving as any other dog. She has overcome so much and now just needs a family to give her the forever home she's been waiting for.
