Riggs is a 9-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart of gold, though he's a bit shy and still learning about the world. He came to us from a large hoarding situation where he didn't have many opportunities for early socialization. Riggs is a sweet, gentle soul who prefers a calm environment and a little time to warm up to new people and situations. He enjoys the company of other dogs and cats, and would really thrive with a confident canine sibling to show him the ropes and help him feel more secure. He's a big fan of gentle people, tasty treats, and a consistently comfortable indoor temperature (around 72 degrees is perfect!). Loud noises and sudden commotion can be startling for Riggs, so a quiet home is definitely ideal.
Ideal Home
Riggs would do best in a home with a fenced yard for his safety and comfort, as he can be sensitive to loud noises and unexpected commotion. He would also benefit from a friendly, resident dog to help build his confidence. Children over the age of 10 are recommended, as he prefers a calm and respectful environment free from the high energy and noise that younger children can sometimes bring. Riggs is not a fan of the Fourth of July and would appreciate a home that can plan accordingly to help him feel safe and secure during this time.
Ongoing Health
Riggs has no known ongoing health concerns.
Training & Support
Riggs is still learning the ropes of everyday life due to his background. He's a shy dog who will blossom with structure, kindness, and patience. He is not a fan of loud noises or sudden commotion.
