Aranza

Aranza is a darling 4-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing around 14 lbs, who is searching for her forever family. She was rescued in November 2023, found wandering alone in Matamoros, Mexico. When she was rescued, Aranza was underweight and suffering from scabies, but with dedicated veterinary care, good food, and plenty of love from her foster home, she has made a remarkable recovery. Now, Aranza is a happy, healthy, and affectionate girl with a sweet and gentle nature. She's docile, enjoys playtime, and absolutely adores cuddling with her people. Aranza forms strong bonds and loves to be close to those she cares about. She's also great with children and friendly with other dogs, making her a wonderful addition to many families. She enjoys walks, exploring, and rides calmly in the car. After all she's been through, Aranza deserves a home that offers her the safety, love, and stability she's always dreamed of. In return, she'll bring loyalty, affection, and companionship to your life.

Ideal Home

Aranza would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, an open mind about the needs and behaviors of rescued street animals, and experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer. A high tolerance and patience for a rescued dog are essential.

Ongoing Health

Aranza has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, is dewormed, microchipped, tested negative for heartworm, and has received a negative 4DX test. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She also has a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences, and patience is crucial in building trust.

Training & Support

Aranza is not house-trained. Rescued pets often require an adjustment period, and patience, a safe environment, and established routines are key to helping them feel secure and build trust.

• Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
• Submit photos and videos of your home to ensure it's a safe and suitable environment.
• If it's a potential match, you'll be contacted for a call or video chat to meet the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• References will be contacted.
• Upon approval, an adoption contract will be signed, and an adoption fee will be collected to cover veterinary care, vaccines, microchip, and food.

Transporation

Aranza is currently fostered in Matamoros, Mexico. She is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation is door-to-door and includes scheduled trips 3-4 times a year with a contracted transport company based in Montana. Pets will be escorted across the border into Texas (or to the nearest US-Canada border for Canadian adoptions) with all necessary legal and health documents, including a USDA health certificate. Adopters will be added to a private Facebook Messenger group for real-time updates during the journey, including photos, videos, and ETAs. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD applies.
