Trixie is a 2.5-year-old, 15 lb Terrier Mix who is spayed and ready to steal your heart! This sweet girl is a wonderful balance of affectionate and independent. She loves to cuddle with her people and is described as having an "old soul" despite her young age. Trixie is potty-trained, knows how to use a doggie door, and doesn't need to be crated. She'd be happy to sleep with her human or close by. Trixie is a delightful dog with an affectionate and funny personality, deserving of a loving forever home!
Ideal Home
Trixie enjoys short walks and playing with toys but is content to relax during the day, often found lounging in a yard. She prefers the company of other small dogs and can be a bit reserved around new canine friends, taking time to warm up. She is nervous around larger dogs. Trixie may need accommodations for navigating stairs due to her medical condition.
Ongoing Health
Trixie has a congenital malformation of her L4 vertebra that may cause flare-ups throughout her life. She is currently receiving acupuncture and Gabapentin, which have significantly improved her mobility and comfort. An adopter must be dedicated to continuing these treatments. She may require an MRI or neurological consultation if her symptoms worsen. Regular follow-ups with a veterinarian are essential to monitor her care and ensure her comfort. Trixie recently had a dental cleaning with 11 extractions; her adopter should ensure her remaining teeth are healthy. She also tested positive for Anaplasma (a tick-borne illness) and was treated with antibiotics as a precaution, though she showed no clinical signs.
Training & Support
Trixie is potty-trained and uses a doggie door. She is generally well-behaved and does not require crating.
