Halo is a beautiful 4 1/2-year-old American Eskimo looking for an experienced, patient home where she can truly shine. A few months ago, Halo's owner reached out about rehoming her, and after some initial difficulties, we stepped in to ensure she ended up somewhere safe. When Halo first arrived, she was scared and overwhelmed, likely having spent most of her life without much socialization. Initially, she was defensive and preferred her crate, but soon realized she was safe and began to relax. Once settled, Halo revealed her sweet nature. She loves being close to her people, happily curls up on the couch or in bed, and would spend all day in your lap if allowed. She has met people beautifully, handled a veterinary visit like a champ, and charmed an experienced American Eskimo adopter. While she is not defensive with most people now, an incident occurred where a young child, not being properly supervised, ran up and grabbed her, causing her to become defensive. No bites occurred. Unfortunately, Halo became territorial with the resident dog in her foster home, possibly exacerbated by being in heat (she has an appointment to be spayed). While she adored her foster family, sharing them proved difficult, so she returned to us. Back with us, Halo generally does well with dogs of all sizes, though she can occasionally be a bit bossy.
Ideal Home
We feel Halo would be happiest in a home with older children and adults, ideally as the only dog or possibly with one canine companion.
Ongoing Health
Halo has an upcoming appointment to be spayed.
