About BIRCH*

The next time you think of using the analogy of something “multiplying like rabbits,” consider instead the analogy, “spreading seeds like a birch tree.” Did you know that birch trees can produce up to one million seeds a year?! Wow! While our pup Birch will not be multiplying or spreading any seeds, he hopes to find an understanding and loving family to whom he can give one million snuggles over the course of his life! Birch has been in a foster home for these past few months and does very well with other dogs, small and large. He is still a puppy so he needs a patient, dog-savvy adopter that will continue working with him. Birch isn't a cuddly fella and prefers the company of your furry friends over people. One of our volunteers who loves working with shy pups has been getting to know Birch, here’s what they had to say: “Birch has remarkably improved in socialization with people, confidence, trust and walking skills. I have been working with him inside his kennel and then taken him to yards the first few times to get used to the outside. He leashes pretty easily and comes out of his kennel and walks on his own. He is still fearful of walking by the other dogs’ kennels, but once beyond the gate and into the parking lot, he starts to relax. He has been on walks to the park a few times now and sits, takes treats gently, and accepts prolonged petting. He walks slowly and more evenly on a leash and has a very sweet, calm personality. He comes from a large litter and enjoys the company of his two siblings when we are able to take them out together. He would do well and probably even better with another dog in the household.” Sweet Birch has shown that with consistency, love, and patience, he is a fantastic dog! Come and meet him today!
