Well hello there! My name is Bruna and I'm a sweet, shy, and playful German Shepherd mix who is about 7 months old and weighs 28 lbs. I was rescued in Mexico when I was just a month old and have been waiting for my forever family ever since! I love playing with other dogs and am a kind-hearted girl, though I can be a little cautious with new people. Once I get to know you, I'm happy and friendly! I enjoy exploring and learning about the world, and while I'm more playful than cuddly, I do have my affectionate moments after some playtime. German Shepherds are intelligent, active, and sensitive dogs who bond deeply with their people. They thrive with consistent training, structure, daily exercise, and mental stimulation.
Ideal Home
I would love a patient family who understands I may need a little time to build confidence. Experience with German Shepherds, or a strong desire to learn about them, would be a great bonus! I also gain a lot of comfort from other dogs, so I'd likely thrive in a home with one or more friendly, playful canine companions. As a puppy, I will benefit from ongoing socialization, training, and positive experiences. A townhome or house with a yard would be ideal!
Ongoing Health
I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will be tested for heartworm and other common issues before flying north. Please be aware that rescue dogs may sometimes require dental work after adoption, and these costs are the adopter's responsibility.
Training & Support
I'm pretty good on leash and comfortable around traffic, though I can be a little cautious initially. With continued positive reinforcement and a well-fitted harness, I'll continue to improve my leash manners. I am a work in progress with housetraining, so frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will be key in my new home. I am not sure how I'll react to small animals like squirrels or rabbits, so my adopter needs to be prepared to train me through this.
