Miles is a complete love bug who lives for affection and positive reinforcement. He's a happy and sensitive soul, always aware of the feelings of his person and environment, and he works hard to make sure his foster mom is always happy and protected. He's true to his breed, being watchful, smart, and protective, and he enjoys herding his smaller companions. He's learned to sit, down, wait, be gentle, go potty, and walks well on a leash. He's also working on handling his big emotions, improving his command consistency, patience, and not reacting to external stimuli. He is the smartest dog his foster mom has had in 3 decades of fostering and rescue, and he will use his intelligence to get what he wants!
Ideal Home
Miles would thrive in a home without children, as his protective nature could be heightened around them, and he's a big, strong boy who doesn't always realize his own strength. He would do best with someone who works from home or is only gone for a few hours a day, as he can experience separation anxiety. A fenced yard is a must for him to enjoy lounging in the sun and playing.
Ongoing Health
Miles is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, and has been neutered and microchipped.
Training & Support
Miles is enrolled in specialized training to help him with his protective drive. He can shut down if voices are raised or if he thinks he's done something wrong. While he is not crate trained, as his anxiety skyrockets if crated, he will not damage anything if left free in the home. He will either sleep peacefully or watch the neighborhood from the window. Gentle consistency with manners and positive behaviors is key to his success.
