TWO

Two is a 5-year-old Husky mix who weighed 50.8 pounds on intake. He and his brother, Four, are sweet and wonderful dogs. Two is more shy than his brother but has warmed up considerably. He loves to run and has a great athletic build with lots of potential as a sled dog. He and his brother are eager eaters and love mealtime. Two has been introduced to bikejoring and picked it up quickly, showing great potential as a bikejoring or skijoring dog. They were surrendered to the shelter because their owner is facing medical concerns and can no longer provide them with the lifestyle they need. They are working dogs and were described as wonderful sled dogs. They are accustomed to living outdoors in a dog house but did enjoy coming inside during very cold weather.

Ideal Home

Two would do best in a home where he can primarily remain outside on a tether with a proper house, as this is how he is most comfortable, while slowly being introduced to the indoors. He would also like a home with another dog(s) he can be buddies with. He should not be trusted to be loose unless in a secure fenced area. Potential adopters should be familiar with sled dogs and be ready to provide active outlets and secure housing for him.

Training & Support

Two and his brother are not housebroken and will need help adjusting to indoor living, including potty training, kennel training, and learning basic commands. They know mushing commands, but that is about it. They would love to join a rec team or become an adventure buddy for someone with an active lifestyle, such as skijoring, bikejoring, or hiking. Anything to keep them mentally and physically stimulated will help them stay out of trouble.
