About RITCHEY ROO (aka RICHARD)

Ritchey Roo, affectionately known as Richard, is an approximately 5-6 year old, 90 lb bundle of joyful energy and loving companionship! He was a bit underweight when he arrived, and we may have overcompensated on the food, so he's looking for a family to help him manage his diet and get some good exercise. Richard is a happy boy who loves his people and enjoys lounging both indoors and outdoors. He's a great pup for a home with a fenced yard and is house-trained, doing well when left alone.

Richard is quite the character! He can be a calm couch potato or incredibly energetic and jubilant, especially when a leash or his favorite person appears. While he can be gentle, he can also get a bit boisterous and jumpy when excited, particularly around food or walks. He has a wonderfully unique vocalization when he has something to "say," which can be quite amusing. He loves sleeping in bed with his human and has even learned the command "OVER" to ensure he doesn't take up the whole bed! Richard isn't particularly interested in toys or fetch but thoroughly enjoys car rides and walks, though he does require some leash training as he can be a strong puller. Ultimately, he's content with lounging around and spending time with his family, showing he can be independent when needed. He's a favorite at boarding facilities due to his easy-going nature and good company.

Ideal Home

Richard would thrive as the only spoiled pup in a home. He needs a family that will appreciate his exuberant expressions of life and can help him manage his food intake and exercise. A fenced yard is ideal.

Ongoing Health

Richard is currently a healthy weight, though he could benefit from a diet and exercise plan to reach his ideal physique.

Training & Support

Richard is house-trained and knows the "OVER" command. He will need continued leash training as he is a strong puller. While he has a history of being vocal, he only barks when he has something to say. He has shown an overwhelming amount of excitement that has previously led to him being declined from daycare, so his new family will need to manage his enthusiasm.
