Lumi is a 1-year-old, spayed, Samoyed-mix female who came to us quite shy from an Iowa hoarding property. While Lumi is still cautious of new people, she has settled in wonderfully in her foster home and has bonded with her foster parents. She's a curious girl who is willing to love and be loved, though trust will need to be earned. Lumi appreciates a slower pace of life and isn't a dog who wants to be taken everywhere or meet new people constantly. We love that her fear hasn't made her submissive, just cautious. Her favorite things include chilling out where she can see her humans, snoozing, enjoying a collagen chew, or playing with her plushie toy. She's been described as a combination of snuggly and independent, cherishing long sessions once she knows you. Lumi is potty trained and typically communicates when she needs to go out. She's currently eating Purina One brown rice & chicken and enjoys hot dog pieces as premium treats.
Ideal Home
Lumi would thrive in a home where her people are often relaxing and appreciate a slower pace of life. She is not suited for a home that is constantly on the go or expects her to meet many new people. She should not live with children under 13 years old, as loud noises and too many people can scare her. Another confident, well-adjusted dog companion would be a great addition to her home, but she should not live with nervous or anxious dogs.
