Ernie is a neutered, 8-year-old male Pittie/Cattle Dog mix, weighing around 63lbs. He was found as a stray and, despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie is a true gem of a dog who was clearly loved in the past and is now looking for his forever home. He's a goofy older gentleman who is very chill but also gets excited for walks and playtime. Ernie has done great with every human and animal he's met and just wants to be wherever you are. He's a gentle playmate who enjoys being included and goes with the flow.
Ideal Home
Ernie would enjoy a home with children, as long as they are aware he is a bigger dog. He's also shown he can be a gentle playmate to smaller dogs and seems interested in cats in a non-aggressive way, so he may be fine with feline friends who don't mind his curiosity. Ernie would do well in a variety of households, whether with kids, other pets, an older couple, or even a first-time dog owner.
Ongoing Health
Ernie is currently heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He does not enjoy crates and will try to escape. While he isn't destructive when left unsupervised, he may whine or howl for a few minutes if he knows you're home while he's in the crate, but he can be calmed with a treat or verbal commands.
