Meet Spike!

Spike is a spirited two-year-old German Shepherd mix who is about 50 pounds. He has a striking black coat with a bright white chest patch that frames his intelligent eyes. He is affectionate, highly intelligent, and wonderfully playful. Spike believes he is a lap dog and loves to lean in for belly rubs. His favorite toys are squeaky toys, and he also enjoys swimming.

When Spike first arrived at his current home, he was fearful and easily startled. He has made tremendous progress and now seeks affection, initiates play, and comes over for cuddles. While he may bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he recovers quickly and looks to his people for reassurance.

Ideal Home

Spike needs a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a fenced yard, loving guidance, and steady leadership in a caring environment. He has lived peacefully with female dogs, though he can be selective and would benefit from thoughtful introductions.

Ongoing Health

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows sit, wait, crate, out, no, and comes when called. He waits patiently for treats and responds well to positive reinforcement. He can be uneasy with loud sirens and may whimper if he sees his people cuddling another dog. With patience, reassurance, and continued confidence building, he continues to blossom.

Spike is currently in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, but he is open to a long-distance adoption.
