Daffy

Daffy is a delightful 2-year-old, neutered male Plott Hound Mix, weighing around 65 pounds. He's a spirited pup with a truly heartwarming story. Daffy was rescued from the euthanasia list at BARC in Houston, Texas, just in the nick of time! Thanks to the amazing folks at Dizzy Dog Animal Rescue and his wonderful foster mom, Daffy was given a second chance and is now eagerly awaiting his furever family.

This fun-loving, playful boy thrives on being active and having a companion. He absolutely adores playing with other dogs and is such a social butterfly that he attends doggy daycare, where he's even made the honor roll! While we don't know how he'd do with cats, Daffy would be happiest in a home with other playful pups and an active family who can keep up with his boundless energy. Because of his size and enthusiastic nature, he'd be a better fit for a household with children over 10, as he can sometimes forget his own strength when he gets excited.

Daffy is a pro at being house-trained and crate-trained, and he views his crate as his personal sanctuary, especially during meal times. He's a big fan of food, so much so that he uses a slow feeder bowl to savor every bite. Daffy also knows his name and will come running when called. He enjoys a good game of fetch and loves to be by his person's side.

Like many young dogs, Daffy is still learning the ropes. He's working on his leash manners, as he tends to pull and zigzag a bit, but he's very eager to learn with some patient guidance. When left unsupervised, Daffy might decide to "decorate" the yard with household items, so crating him while you're away is recommended. With a little patience and consistent training, he's sure to blossom into the wonderful companion he's destined to be.

Training & Support

Daffy is still learning leash manners, as he tends to pull and zigzag, but he’s eager to learn with some guidance. When left unsupervised, Daffy may “relocate” household items to the yard, so crating him is recommended while you’re away.

• Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat.
• Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
• If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
• We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
• If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
