About Luke
Luke means "light," and this sweet boy has a wonderful way of brightening every room he walks into. At 2-1/2 years old, this handsome 89-pound black Labrador Retriever is full of love, gentle companionship, and the kind of happy personality that makes every day a little better. Luke is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and ready to find the forever family he's been waiting for.
One of the happiest, friendliest dogs you'll ever meet, Luke loves everyone he meets and enjoys spending time with both people and the other pets in his foster home. Whether he's leaning in for pets, carrying around one of his favorite toys, or resting his head in your lap while you watch a movie, Luke is happiest simply being with his people. He's crate trained but has proven himself to be an excellent house guest. Luke can be trusted to have free roam of the house because he doesn't get into things he shouldn't and isn't interested in counter surfing—even though he's certainly tall enough to see what's up there!
When he's outside, Luke enjoys exploring brush piles, playing with his toys, and going for walks. He's still learning his leash manners, so because he's a strong boy, adults or older children should handle his walks while he continues building his confidence and skills. Luke has a strong prey drive, so rabbits and chickens are simply too tempting. For his safety, he'll do best with a traditional fenced yard where he can explore without chasing after wildlife. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even cats, making him a great fit for many multi-pet homes.
At 2-1/2 years old, Luke is at that wonderful stage where he still has plenty of playful energy but has also developed excellent house manners. He's equally happy joining you on an adventure or spending a quiet evening curled up beside you on the couch. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will brighten your days with endless affection, unwavering companionship, and a wagging tail, Luke is ready to be your light.
Ideal Home
Luke would do best in a home with a traditional fenced yard and prefers that he not be around rabbits or chickens due to his prey drive.
Ongoing Health
Luke is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations.
Training & Support
Luke is still learning his leash manners and should be walked by adults or older children. He has proven to be an excellent house guest and is not destructive when left to roam the house.
