Elmo

Elmo is a 10-month-old Great Pyrenees mix who came to us after being shot in the hip, with the bullet lodged near his spine. Thankfully, it has since become completely encapsulated, and all the specialists agree that attempting to remove it would be far riskier than leaving it alone. The good news is that this does not define Elmo’s future. He is healthy, comfortable, and expected to live a long, happy life. He is sweet, resilient, and quietly brave. He has been through more than any dog should, yet he greets the world with trust and calm. He is ready for a safe home with soft beds and an ample supply of snacks.

Ideal Home

Elmo would do best skipping the extreme sports for now. No leaping from rock to rock or scaling tall peaks in his immediate future. He would thrive in a home that understands he does not need to be an adventure athlete to be a wonderful companion. Elmo would do best with kids over 10 or sturdy kids who are old enough to understand that Elmo is not a pony given his medical issues. He has not lived with cats and showed some mild interest in them, so dog savvy cats would likely be fine.
