Smokey Bear

Smokey Bear is a sweet, mild-mannered senior boy looking for a family to call his own! Smokey came to us after being taken in by a good samaritan who found him with some open wounds and skin infections, indicating that he'd been roughing it on his own for a while. Nonetheless, his finders reported that he was sweet, good-natured, and loving with the whole family, and we've seen the same gentle and easygoing demeanor from him during his stay at the shelter!

Despite his rough appearance when he was first found, Smokey has clearly been loved by a family in the past, as he appears to be housebroken and is a pro at basic commands. "Paw" is his favorite, and he loves to show off what a gentleman he is by shaking hands with everyone he meets! He also knows "sit" and "down," and enjoys socializing with people without being too clingy. In fact, Smokey is everything we love about senior dogs—he's smart, independent, and can be playful, but is mostly happy to just hang out with his best buds.
