Meet Claudia!

Claudia is a beautiful 9-month-old black Lab Retriever mix with a gentle heart who is learning that the world is a safe place. She is looking for a patient family who will celebrate every small victory as she grows into the wonderful dog she is meant to be. Claudia is mostly calm and enjoys a quiet lifestyle, preferring to lounge in a cozy spot over constant activity. She is happiest when life is predictable. She is house-trained and sleeps quietly through the night, making her an easy companion once she feels secure.

Ideal Home

Claudia absolutely loves other dogs and gains tremendous confidence from having a friendly canine companion. She will do best in a home with a confident, social dog who can show her the ropes. She has shown no interest in bothering the chickens in her foster home and has been polite with the people she has met. Because Claudia can become frightened and may try to run, a securely fenced yard is essential. Children who understand how to respect a shy dog would do well with her.

Training & Support

Claudia is making steady progress with leash walking and has come a long way from her first days in foster care. While she is still nervous in open spaces, she is beginning to walk with more confidence instead of panicking. When she feels uncertain, she simply looks for a safe place to settle and observe. She is a flight risk until she is fully comfortable, so her new family will need to be patient, attentive, and committed to helping her feel safe.
