Dixie

Dixie is a bright-eyed, 8-month-old husky mix weighing about 25 lbs. She's a smart and eager learner, currently mastering commands and enjoying her newfound love for toys. Dixie came to us with her mom after being found near a busy highway, and while her mom has found her forever home, Dixie is still searching. She adores other dogs and thrives in their company, so a canine sibling would be a great addition to her new home. Dixie is still learning to trust humans and would flourish with a patient, understanding, and gentle family.

Ideal Home

Dixie needs a home where her family is patient, understanding, and gentle. Another dog in the home would be very beneficial for Dixie to help her come out of her shell. If there isn't another dog, her family should be prepared to offer regular playdates or doggy daycare.

Ongoing Health

Dixie has been spayed, is heartworm negative, and is up-to-date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and dewormer. She will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.

Training & Support

Dixie is kennel trained and is learning commands. With some one-on-one time, she will master them quickly. She is very smart and eager to learn.

Transporation

Dixie is currently in a temporary sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border. We do not adopt animals out in Texas due to the high euthanasia rates. Dixie can be transported to the Central US and the East Coast every 2-3 weeks. Transport destinations include: Albany and Latham, NY; Wells and Brattleboro, VT; Willington, New Haven and Dayville, CT; Port Chester, NY; Dayton and Akron, OH; Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA; Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ; White Marsh/Elkton, MD; and Falls Church, VA.
