Petrie is a sweet, affectionate little guy with soulful brown eyes. He's 2-1/2 years old, weighs between 12-13 pounds, and is believed to be a mix of Shih Tzu and Poodle. Petrie loves to be by your side and is the best snuggle buddy. He has a moderate energy level and is most comfortable with people who are calmer and more relaxed. He's happy to quietly entertain himself by chewing a Nylabone or taking a cozy nap, though he much prefers being where his human(s) is/are. Petrie walks great with a harness and leash, and also likes exploring in the fenced yard, but returns to his person after a bit, jumping into your lap for a cuddle!
Petrie's previous life included some interactions with people who were unkind, but his sweet, loving, and forgiving nature always wins out once he has time to get to know you and feels safe. He's a polite house guest and appreciates the comfort and routines of a loving home. He's reliably house- and crate-trained, though he doesn't love the crate and would prefer being in a room with a baby gate if he needs a separate space.
Ideal Home
Petrie would be happiest in an adult home with a consistent, stable schedule where his new family will allow him time to relax into their home and life. He has been good with respectful, dog-aware kids 10+ that he's met so far, but would be happiest as the one and only pet in the home, so he can enjoy all the affection and attention.

Training & Support
Petrie is reliably house- and crate-trained, though he doesn't love the crate and would prefer being in a room with a baby gate if he needs a separate space. He enjoys car rides and doesn't mind being in a crate for safety while in the car.
