Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent Labrador mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 42 lbs. She's a sociable girl who enjoys human companionship and is eager for love and attention. Teresa can be a bit cautious and shy at first due to past fear of rejection, but once she feels safe, her true affectionate and playful personality shines through. She gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, and showed no reaction to cats in cages. Teresa is a calm, balanced, and respectful dog who prefers peace. She walks on a leash with guidance and can be crate-trained, though she may be nervous initially. Teresa was found tied to a tree with a wire around her neck, severely injured and covered in ticks. Despite her past trauma, she healed and has remained a wonderful, obedient, affectionate, and smart dog.
Ideal Home
Teresa would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and understand the needs of street animals, including their need for protection and education. Ideal adopters will have experience with dog behavior and training or be willing to hire a trainer. A high tolerance and patience for rescued pups are essential, and potential adopters should understand that she is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Teresa is up-to-date on all her vaccinations, including DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella. She has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. She receives monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She also has a spay/neuter certificate and a health certificate. The injury from her past trauma left a scar on her neck, but it has not affected her sweet spirit.
Training & Support
Teresa is not fully house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. She walks on a leash with guidance and can be crate-trained, though she may need time to adjust. Her past experiences mean she may have fears and anxieties, and patience and understanding are crucial for her adjustment period. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and clear boundaries will help her feel secure.
