Gingersnap, a delightful 9-year-old, 9lb Pekingese mix, is the epitome of spunky charm and adorable affection. She came to us as a stray from Houston, and though her past is unknown, it's clear she's had a tough start and likely raised puppies. We couldn't resist rescuing this precious girl and bringing her to safety. Gingersnap is a friendly and confident companion with a low to medium energy level. She adores playing with other dogs, especially her smaller pals, and has a particular fondness for one of her foster siblings, whom she constantly tries to engage in playful antics. She's a well-behaved pup, already potty trained, crate trained, enjoys car rides, and walks beautifully on a leash. Her crate is her sanctuary, a place she retreats to for a peaceful nap. She's shown no signs of separation anxiety, settling in nicely when left alone. Her exercise needs are modest, consisting of short neighborhood strolls and bursts of playful zoomies with her canine friends. While generally tolerant of handling, she can be startled and may let out a little yelp if surprised, though she's becoming less reactive in her foster home as she adjusts to her routine and human companions.
Ideal Home
Gingersnap would thrive in a home with another very playful, small dog to be her companion. Her adopter should be committed to continuing basic command training for her safety. Due to her tendency to be startled, a home without young children would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Gingersnap is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will be ready to move to her forever home in September.
Training & Support
She is potty trained and crate trained. While she has mastered basic house manners, continued training on basic commands is recommended for her ongoing safety and well-being.
