Wanda is a 2-3 year old, 38 lb, female Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who was rescued from the streets of Matamoros, Mexico. She was found malnourished and covered in ticks and fleas, clearly searching for safety and sustenance. Despite her rough start, Wanda is a very active, playful, social, energetic, and loving dog. She enjoys the company of adults and is eager to please.
Ideal Home
Wanda would thrive in an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and daily walks. She needs a home with a fenced backyard and a family experienced with her breed. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, and those with high tolerance and patience for rescued pups, will be a great fit. Wanda is not social with big dogs, and while she has been fine with small dogs, she would do best as the only dog in the home.
Ongoing Health
Wanda has undergone extensive health protocols. She is spayed/neutered, has received DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. She tested negative for heartworm and passed a 4DX test. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.
Training & Support
Wanda is not house-trained. The rescue organization emphasizes that it's a significant undertaking to house-train every rescued pet due to the sheer number of animals in foster care. They focus on rehabilitating their health, emotions, and providing a safe environment. Adopters should be prepared to continue her training and provide consistent guidance.
