About Brownie

Brownie is a 4-year-old male Labrador mix, weighing about 35 lbs. He was rescued as a puppy and is described as energetic and loving. Brownie enjoys people, seeking attention, hugs, and pets, and is very playful. He has a funny fascination with water and loves to play in it whenever he can. Brownie has spent a long time in a shelter environment and has never had the chance to go for a walk, but with exercise, structure, patience, and love, he could truly thrive in a home. He is a sweet, friendly dog looking for a committed adopter willing to help him channel his energy and give him the life he deserves.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard is preferred. An active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be a great fit for Brownie. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and is looking for a dog that may need some extra understanding due to their past experiences. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, are ideal. He requires high tolerance and patience.

Ongoing Health

Brownie was rescued as a puppy after suffering from severe mange, which has left him with some scars and patches of white fur. He has worn teeth from chewing. Brownie has received his spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI vaccines, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed and microchipped. He has also had a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and receives monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm). A health certificate and vaccine booklet are provided.

Training & Support

Brownie is very energetic and anxious, and he loves to chew. He has worn teeth from gnawing on various items. He knows how to use a crate but becomes very stressed when confined. He does not yet walk on a leash and can be anxious during transport. He is not house-trained. He will need consistent exercise, structure, patience, and love to help him adjust and thrive.
