Rex is a delightful 17-18 lb shaggy, soft silvery boy with incredibly expressive eyes. He's a mix of Shih Tzu, Poodle, Yorkie, Pug, and Maltese, with a DNA test confirming his unique heritage, though he has a striking resemblance to a Schnauzer! Born on July 6, 2022, Rex absolutely adores playtime and games of fetch, which he can happily do for hours. He also loves outdoor adventures, especially in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Cuddling with his people is another favorite pastime. Rex is already potty trained and knows several commands, including sit, down, wait, paw, touch, and wait for food. He's also crate-trained and a very food-motivated pup who enjoys a variety of fun foods, vegetables, and fruits. Rex is a high-energy dog who thrives with an owner who is eager to engage him in hiking, long walks, and exciting adventures. If Rex isn't kept busy with fun activities, he can become bored. He truly enjoys car rides with the wind in his face and is a champion snuggler. While Rex doesn't love being left alone, he manages better when he has a canine companion. He's a wonderful dog with many great qualities and a truly handsome appearance. Rex gets along well with other playful dogs and enjoys playing fetch and swimming with them.
Ideal Home
Rex needs an active owner who can provide him with plenty of opportunities for hiking, walks, and playtime. He does not do well with small children and would be best suited for a home without a lot of traffic or busy boardwalks, unless further leash training is undertaken.
Ongoing Health
Rex has been receiving medication to help manage stress and anxiety, which has been very beneficial.
Training & Support
Rex is potty trained and knows several commands. He does not love being left alone but does better with a canine friend. He is reactive on the leash, so continued training in this area would be beneficial.

Applications to adopt Rex start by contacting us through Wags. Following your initial contact, you will need to complete an application and an interview. An adoption fee and, in some cases, a home check will also be required.
Transporation
Rex is currently located in Orange County. We may consider long-distance adoptions for dogs who have been with us for an extended period if no local candidates are found. If you do not live within a 2-hour drive of Orange County, please contact us through Wags before applying to discuss the possibility of a long-distance adoption.
