About Crouton
Crouton is a young dog who came to ACCT Philly as a stray on April 22nd. This handsome, playful boy settled in quickly and has consistently shown wonderful manners with the people around him. From the moment he arrived, Crouton eagerly sought attention and showed off that he knows sit. Crouton loves toys of all kinds, especially balls, rope toys, and frisbees, and he's always ready for a game.
While he could use a little polishing on his leash manners since he tends to pull and zigzag at first, he settles into a steadier walking rhythm once he gets going. He takes treats gently, tolerates handling with relaxed body language, and returns to his kennel easily without any fuss. He also appears to be housetrained. Crouton has also shown interest in playing with other dogs, though he can be a bit humpy when excited. With continued guidance and the right home, this sweet boy has so much love, fun, and companionship to offer.
Crouton is currently in foster care! Email foster@acctphilly.org for more information or to schedule a meet with him!

BEHAVIOR NOTES per day trip 5/13: He's so sweet! We can tell that you guys have been doing a lot of training with him. He sits and takes treats so well. Definitely needs training on a leash. I think he gets so excited and wants to run so he's a puller on the leash. He has a lot of puppy energy so I could imagine he could be broken from pulling with training. He's very smart. He would be a perfect match for someone who likes hiking. Definitely a nature boy. We had the best time with him! He deserves a home and we would love to be a part of trying to make that happen!
Per volunteer 5/11: Medium-high energy. Pulls, but sweet dog.
Per volunteer 5/10: Medium energy. Pulls on leash. A little zig-zag on leash, nose to the ground and steady cadence. Easy with treats, returned to kennel on his own.
Per staff 5/10: Crouton is outta ISO and we had some fun in the run! He chased and retrieved balls and rope toys. He tolerated pets and butt scratches while he had a toy in his mouth with relaxed body language. Crouton took treats gently. While on our walk, he was a little zig-zagged or seemingly distracted by the environment. I shortened the leash to help him settle and walk in more of a straight and steady cadence. The longer we walked, Crouton settled in more and was easier to walk. No issues with returning to kennel and over the head leash removal. Such a handsome dog!
Per volunteer 5/9: Good on leash. Pulls a little. Good play in yard. Good fence meet.
Per volunteer 5/5: Medium energy. Met dog through fence. Sweet, gentle, knows sit, takes treats well. Liked playing with the frisbee.
Per volunteer 5/3: Medium energy. Strong on leash but sweet. Loves to play. Good boy.
Per volunteer 5/2: Medium energy.
Per volunteer 4/30: I took Crouton out this evening and what a fun, playful boy! He has a strong pull, but cooperated easily for all handling. He seems very house trained!
Per volunteer 4/23: Kennel Presentation: Sleeping in kennel facing away from me. When I made a smoochy noise, got up slowly and calmly. Stepped forward to be leashed. Leash Skills: Pulls medium pressure on leash, handle oriented. Sociability: Slightest bit skittish. When pet, Crouton remained still and began a tail wag and ears perked up. Stayed engaged with pets. House trained! Play: Chased ball, did not retrieve. No big interest. Dog Interaction: NA Return to Kennel: Stepped in on his own. Color Level: Gold. Noted to have a neck medical issue (was not apparent to me though).
Per staff 4/23: Easy to leash, came right to the front. Walked nicely on the leash, no pulling. Did not handle the dog. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue. Medium energy. Good boy. Easy to handle. Calm.
Per staff 4/23, playgroup: Steer test: 2/5 with water and 0/5 with can. Slow entry, nose to the ground. Hackles raised with face to face greetings. Necking. Had short bursts of play and then became to hump. Per staff 4/22: Dog had a loose body, solicited attention for pets. Knew the command "sit". What a handsome good boy!
Per police 4/22: Friendly.
