Lon will be at Pet Evolution on Saturday, June 27th from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Come meet this sweet pup and you might just find your next best friend!
Lon is part of a litter of 10 puppies who came into rescue when their previous owner felt it was best for them to find loving homes. Their mom appears to be a scruffy terrier mix, and the father is unknown. The puppies were in good health upon arrival to their foster home, and their mom did a great job caring for them.
DNA testing on one of Lon's siblings revealed a fascinating mix! His heritage includes herding breeds like Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, Miniature American Shepherd, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Border Collie, and Cane Di Oropa, along with Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Husky, Pit Bull, Japanese Chin, and Golden Retriever. We call it hybrid vigor! Lon is expected to be a medium-sized dog when fully grown, but adopters should be prepared for him to be larger or smaller than predicted.
Ideal Home
Lon needs a home committed to his early socialization. This includes exposing him to various sights and sounds (vacuums, trucks, garbage cans), people with different appearances and activities (clapping, laughing, hats, tools, bikes, skateboards), and, crucially, plenty of positive interactions with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Puppy socialization classes and obedience classes are highly recommended. A well-socialized dog is a happy dog!
Ongoing Health
Lon has been vet-checked, vaccinated, and de-wormed. He will require two additional puppy vaccinations and a rabies vaccination at the adopter's expense. His required alteration surgery must be completed by 6 months of age.
Training & Support
As a young puppy, Lon will benefit greatly from consistent training and continued socialization. He needs ongoing opportunities to learn good canine social skills. Remember, a tired dog is a good dog!
