Addie is a 4.5-year-old, spayed female Pitbull Terrier mix weighing about 45 pounds. She was rescued from the streets of Houston and had a rough start to life, suffering from mange and malnourishment. Despite her past struggles, Addie is a resilient survivor who is now learning what it means to be a cherished house dog. She's a willing and promising student, eager to embrace her new life. Addie is crate trained and sleeps through the night in her crate. She has also been trusted to roam freely in the house and has had no issues, though she is still perfecting her house manners and may have an occasional accident as she adjusts to her new routine.
Ideal Home
Addie would thrive in a home that can provide her with two 20-30 minute walks daily, a yard for her to roam and play in, and plenty of soft places to lounge, as she is embracing her "Soft Life Era." She would also love to have a male dog sibling, preferably between 40-60 pounds, to cuddle and sleep with. While Addie is generally sweet and gentle, and may do well with younger children, she might prefer older, calmer pre-teens and teenagers. We do not have history with cats.
Ongoing Health
Addie was treated for mange and malnourishment, but has since recovered and is healthy.
Training & Support
Addie is crate trained and has shown no house-soiling issues when left alone or overnight. She is still learning and may have occasional accidents as she settles into a new home. Addie can be a bit of a "hungry, hungry hippo" and will try to eat other dogs' food. We recommend feeding her separately, but she is learning to be patient and understands she will receive her own meal. While she is not overly playful with other dogs, she enjoys interacting with male dogs of similar or larger size and respects their cues. She is curious about female dogs but hasn't found a playmate yet.
