Meet Beans #2! He's a sweet, curious, and sometimes goofy pup who loves to roll around and nap upside down. Beans enjoys a good walk or hike but is equally happy with a lazy day on the couch. He's a fantastic cuddler and will snuggle up right next to you, or even on your lap! He's also a big fan of car rides and has a special obsession with playing in the hose. You'll also be charmed by his adorable snores when he sleeps.
Ideal Home
Beans would do well in a home with a yard, but he's also adapted to apartment living with sufficient exercise and potty breaks. A low-key, stable routine will help him thrive. Due to his reactivity around other animals, Beans would be best as the only pet in the household. He has done well with older children (10+) but his compatibility with younger children or babies is unknown. He can be a bit wary of strangers, so slow introductions, especially outside the home, are recommended.
Ongoing Health
Beans experiences separation anxiety, which is currently managed with trazodone. He is crated when left alone and has not shown any destructive behaviors. He has no reported resource guarding issues with toys, treats, or food.
Training & Support
Beans is house- and crate-trained and happily uses his crate with treats. He knows commands like "sit," "paw," "down," and "wait." He is highly food-motivated, making him eager and easy to train. While he can pull on the leash when excited or seeing other dogs, he can be redirected with treats, especially from a distance. He exhibits some stranger-danger and barrier reactivity, particularly in unfamiliar or confined spaces like the vet's office. It's important to avoid surprise or forced handling, as he can startle easily.
