About Marsh
--FOSTER PUPDATE-- Marsh A183179 20 lbs. spayed female, approx 1 year
This sweet girl goes by Sally in her foster home.
A Note From Sally to Her Future Family:
I've been thinking a lot about what my future family might look like. Maybe you're the kind of person who understands that trust takes time. Maybe you know that healing isn't always linear, and that some of the best things in life happen quietly, little by little.
I had a difficult start, and because of that, I'm still learning that people can be safe. I'm a gentle girl, but I can be unsure sometimes. I don't really like pets yet, and truthfully, I'm not sure if that will change in months, years, or maybe ever. What I need most is someone who knows I'm trying very hard to be brave, and while I'll show you affection in my desire to sit by you, the full body wiggles I get when you come home, and the happy zoomies I have whenever you bring out the snacks, I might not be a pup that finds comfort in being pet.
My foster mom says I've already come so far. When I first arrived, I mostly stayed hidden in my crate. Now I curl up on the couch nearby, and I'll sleep on my foster mom's feet when she's working at her desk. These might be small things, but in the 3 months since I came to foster, these changes have been huge for showing that I can be safe with humans. I'm starting to choose to initiate contact, and trying a little more each day.
There's another side of me too, the silly one!
Every morning starts the same way- I wake up full of zoomies, and run a couple laps around the house before making my rounds to give every dog in the house good morning kisses. Then I'll follow my foster mom around the house patiently following her around the house until she serves up breakfast.
Dogs are my favorite thing in the whole world. They make me feel brave, and nothing makes me happier than curling up beside another pup or running around the yard together. Because of that, I'm looking for a home with a dog friend who can help me feel safe and show me the ropes.
A few other things you should know about me:
- I'm crate trained and do well when left alone
- I'm fully potty trained, and will tell you when I need to go out
- I love toys and I'm pretty great at entertaining myself
- I have medium energy, playful, but not over the top
- I haven't been cat tested yet, but little animals outside don't interest me much
I also have one eye that likely won't regain vision and a shorter tail, but they don't slow me down one bit. In fact, I think the shorter tail makes me more aerodynamic if I do say so myself. I don't need any further care or treatment from the wounds I brought with me from my past, I'm fully healthy, and feeling great.
I may never be the dog who asks for endless cuddles, but I think I still have a lot of love to give. Mine might just look a little different- quiet time on the couch, small moments of trust, and choosing to be a little braver every day.
If that sounds like enough for you, I'd really love to meet you.
