Meet Duke, a 70-pound lap dog who is as goofy as he is lovable! Duke's favorite place in the world is right next to his people, or even better, on them! He's an affectionate and loyal companion who thrives when included in family activities. Whether it's movie night, laundry duty supervision, or simply couch cuddling, Duke is eager to be a part of it all. He's a calm sweetheart who enjoys relaxing, adores belly rubs, and is incredibly smart, following directions well. Duke also loves car rides and is fully housetrained. While he enjoys sleeping on the bed, he's learned to settle in his own spot for a good night's sleep for everyone. Duke has undergone formal training and shows potential for good behavior with other dogs after more exposure and repetition, as he exhibits no aggression. However, he may have been under-socialized as a puppy and is still learning appropriate dog play. For this reason, he would be best suited as the only dog in the household. Duke can be a bit shy meeting new people, so he would do best in a quieter home environment without frequent visitors. Our staff is happy to guide adopters on how to make slow introductions to help Duke expand his circle of friends. If you're searching for a loyal sidekick, a professional snuggler, and an enthusiastic participant in your household activities, Duke is ready to be a part of your family!
Ideal Home
Duke would do best in a quieter home without lots of strangers coming and going. He is recommended for families with teens+.
Ongoing Health
Duke is 3 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Duke has gone through formal training and assessed that with additional exposure & repetition could be good with other dogs. He shows no signs of aggression, but was likely under socialized as a puppy and hasn’t yet learned appropriate dog play. OAHS staff will happily show adopters how to do slow introductions.
