ROXIE

Roxie is a gorgeous, 1-year-old, spayed Pit Bull with a big personality and a strong physical presence, who just loves to see the joy in life! She enjoys spending time with people, loves to go into the kiddie pool, and is more than happy to get pets once she's gotten her zoomies and sniffies out. This sweet girl sits quietly and patiently in her kennel, watching people walk by, hoping they will be her next family. She loves her walks and is always excited to leave the kennel. Roxie is affectionate, loving, full of personality, and incredibly treat-motivated. She knows "sit" and is a great snuggler.

Ideal Home

Roxie would do best in a home where she is your only pet and best friend. She has a strong prey drive and should not go to a home with cats. An experienced adopter who understands high-drive dogs and reactive behavior would be ideal.

Training & Support

Roxie can pull hard on leash, especially toward other dogs, and is very reactive on leash and at barriers. While she is improving, her behavior can easily backslide in a stressful environment. She has shown piloerection with an upward-wagging tail when in close proximity to another dog and may vocalize or pull hard to reach them. At times she has displayed very severe leash biting. It is recommended she be walked with two leashes or toys as redirection tools. She does best with staff she sees frequently and responds well to familiar people. She enjoys exploring on walks, and with a little calm, settles into a nice loose-leash saunter.
