Ferrari is a 3-year-old, 50-pound dog with a friendly demeanor and medium energy. He enjoys napping, sunbathing, and observing his humans. His previous foster family reported him as being good with dogs, cats, and children. Ferrari tends to ignore the cats in his current foster home and enthusiastically greets school buses, suggesting he's had positive experiences with kids in the past.
He is generally quiet but becomes more active around walk and dinner times. Ferrari may vocalize when left alone, but his foster family is working on this. He is well-behaved indoors, not chewing or damaging anything, and only plays with his toys. He knows commands like "sit," "lie down," and "come," and is eager to learn more. While not yet perfect on leash, he is improving daily. Ferrari loves car rides, hugs, and meeting new people, treating everyone like an old friend. He enjoys long hikes and learns quickly, though he can overheat easily and requires clothing and water when the temperature is above 80°F. He carries his own water in his beloved backpack on hikes and is provided water from a bottle on shorter walks in warm weather. Ferrari is also comfortable in his crate if his owners need to be away.
Ideal Home
Ferrari would be a perfect companion for a busy family or a family that spends most of their time at home. He needs owners who will provide him with appropriate clothing and water during warm weather and be patient as he continues to improve his leash skills.
Ongoing Health
Ferrari can overheat easily and requires protective clothing and access to water when temperatures exceed 80°F.
Training & Support
Ferrari is house-trained and crate-trained. He may cry when left alone, but a calm voice can help soothe him. He is already learning basic commands and is eager to continue his training.
