Meet Lena!
Lena is a loving seven-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix with a warm burst of devotion wrapped in a beautiful brown coat with white accents. At 55 pounds, Lena believes life is simply better when shared with her favorite people! She adores cozy movie nights, long walks, sunny afternoons, and energetic adventures hunting lizards. When the day winds down, her favorite place is right beside the people she trusts, offering all the affection and companionship her big heart can hold. She is a smart girl who has completed formal obedience training and knows commands such as sit, stay, leave it, down, free, and here/touch. She is house-trained, crate-trained, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Lena takes a daily allergy medication and handles short periods alone without difficulty. One of Lena's most endearing qualities is the contrast between her playful energy and her cuddly nature. She can happily chase a ball, carry around a beloved stuffed toy, or enjoy a favorite bone, then transform into an oversized lap dog who wants nothing more than to relax with her people! Family friends who earn her trust quickly discover just how affectionate and loyal she can be. For the right family, Lena offers unwavering loyalty, endless cuddles, and a deeply rewarding bond. She is looking for a caring environment where she can be the center of attention and enjoy her next chapter with people who appreciate everything that makes her special.
Ideal Home
Lena needs an adult-only home with experienced pet parents who understand resource guarding and dog reactivity, and the importance of maintaining consistent boundaries and routines. Lena must be the only pet in the household, allowing her to relax without the stress of sharing space or valued resources with other animals. She can be cautious with some unfamiliar people and may take time to build trust.
Ongoing Health
Lena takes a daily allergy medication.
Training & Support
Lena has a long history of resource guarding around food, treats, toys, and other high-value items, as well as multiple serious conflicts with other dogs. Her caregivers have worked extensively to support her through professional training, behavior management strategies, structured routines, and careful supervision. Her future family should be committed to continuing the thoughtful management and positive reinforcement practices that help her feel secure and safe.
