Lottie is an approximately 2.5-year-old spayed female Great Pyrenees mix, possibly with some Australian Shepherd. She came to us after experiencing abuse in Tennessee. Despite her past, Lottie is an incredibly sweet girl with her people. She is a typical Great Pyrenees mix, initially wary of strangers and will bark at noises, strangers, or wildlife outside. One of her front paws was previously injured and left untreated, resulting in a deformity. An orthopedic specialist has examined her, and surgery can correct it. Our rescue is committed to covering the cost of surgery with our specialist in Madison, Wisconsin. We would love to find an adopter in Rockford, Illinois, or between Rockford and Madison to simplify her transport for surgery. If we are to transport her, surgery will be postponed until fall due to our travel schedule. Lottie's vet has stated she can live with her leg as it is, as it doesn't appear to cause her pain. We are eager to find Lottie the loving home she deserves. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and housebroken. Meet and greets can be challenging as she is initially shy and barks at new people, but she warms up to become the sweetest girl. She has a prey drive, so no cats. She was fine with a small dog through a fence but barks at and seems to dislike larger dogs. We are hoping to find a home where Lottie can be the only dog and receive all the attention. She would greatly benefit from leash training, although she does a little better with a harness. Due to her tendency to jump, we recommend homes with older, gentle children who understand how to interact respectfully with animals.
Ideal Home
A home with a fenced yard is a must. Lottie needs to be the only dog in the household. Homes with older, gentle children who are taught to treat animals respectfully will be considered.
