Kieran is a handsome 2-year-old French Bulldog who came to us as an unclaimed stray. This sturdy 27-pound boy is a striking black brindle with a white stripe down his chest. Kieran is a confident, curious, and outgoing pup who, with a little guidance, has become a well-mannered companion. He's a smart cookie, too, and responds well to positive reinforcement, making him a joy to train. Kieran absolutely loves cuddle time, ear rubs, and chin scratches, and he's known to fall asleep in his favorite human's lap. He also enjoys his walks, though shorter ones are best due to his flat face, especially in extreme temperatures.
Ideal Home
Kieran would thrive in a home with a confident and experienced dog owner who can provide him with consistent guidance. He gets along well with older children (5+) and has shown no issues with cats, so a home with a dog-savvy feline friend would be suitable. He'd be happy as the only dog, or with a laid-back canine companion. Kieran would not be a good fit for an apartment or condo due to barking when crated during the day. He loves the outdoors and would appreciate a fenced yard, though it's not mandatory. Kieran needs a home where he won't be left alone for long periods, as he is a very social and loving boy who thrives on interaction with his humans. He needs a family aware of bulldog sounds like grunts, snorts, groans, and snores.
Ongoing Health
Kieran's neuter surgery revealed an ear infection, which has since been treated.
Training & Support
Kieran is fully toilet trained and will alert when he needs to go out, though sometimes he just wants to go outside to play! He's learning not to jump up on people and is responding well to redirections. He has learned that only specific furniture is for him and is still working on "wait" commands. Kieran is still learning leash manners and can be a bit eager to jump out of his crate, so vigilance is needed when taking him out. He needs continued training to reinforce commands and he has a mischievous streak that a firm but kind hand will help redirect.
