Meet King! This 8-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart has truly lived up to his name—he’s a survivor. His past was heartbreaking: abused by a former owner, abandoned in an empty house where he had to chew through a wall to find food, and even ejected from a car accident that left him fearful of rides. But despite it all, King’s spirit shines. He’s a happy, affectionate boy who adores being near people and other pets.
King loves head scratches, pets, and being told what a good boy he is. He’s house-trained, sleeps peacefully in a kennel at night, and is always excited for time with his people. He can be strong on leash (especially when a squirrel crosses his path!) and has some “counter-surfing” tendencies, but with patience and training, he’ll continue to blossom. King gets along well with other dogs and previously lived with cats. He also does fine with kids, though he has no concept of personal space and might jump up to say hello.
Ideal Home
King needs a home with a fenced yard or supervised outdoor time. He enjoys the company of other dogs, cats, and people of all ages, and would likely do well in a home with children.
Ongoing Health
King is a survivor and is ready for a loving home. He enjoys baths and grooming, but would prefer his paws be left alone.
Training & Support
King can be strong on leash and has a tendency to counter-surf, but with patience and training, he will continue to blossom. He has no concept of personal space and may jump up to say hello. Car rides make him nervous, so a crate is recommended for travel.
