About Haddie

Haddie is a 5-year-old, 49 lb Lab Mix with a heart full of love to give! She's a sweet and friendly girl who has been through a lot, moving from a home to living in a car before being rescued by The Animal Pad. Despite her journey, Haddie has great house manners, is crate trained, and communicates when she needs to go out. She's generally good on leash but can sometimes lunge or pull, especially when she's feeling anxious. Haddie is described as cuddly, sassy, funny, and very human-like. She has a good balance of energy, with a bit more pep in her step in the morning that mellows out as the day goes on. She enjoys training but needs patience as she adjusts to new environments.

Ideal Home

Haddie is looking for a patient and loving home where she can feel safe and secure. She absolutely adores children but would do best in a home with kids aged 10 and up. While she prefers to be the only dog in the household, she can potentially coexist with well-matched, submissive dogs after slow introductions and with a good understanding of how to manage her boundary frustration. She also enjoys giving a heads-up about visitors and will bark at the doorbell or knocks.

Ongoing Health

Haddie is currently taking Prozac and Clonidine to help manage her anxiety, with monthly medication costs estimated between $10.00-$15.00. Her adoption fee includes spaying, vaccinations, and microchipping.

Training & Support

Haddie is working on her leash reactivity, which stems from boundary frustration. Redirection and obedience training have been helpful. She can sometimes bark at the doorbell, knocks, people in the hall, or dogs passing by the window. Patience and consistent positive reinforcement will be key to her continued success.
