Meet Oscar!

Oscar is a gentle and thoughtful 5-6 year old Border Collie mix with a quiet soul and an inspiring determination. He came to us from a hoarding situation, and while his journey has had its challenges, Oscar is blossoming with confidence every day and discovering the joys of a loving home. He's a calm and easygoing companion with an excellent "off switch," enjoying his stuffed toys and relaxing in his crate. Oscar also has a fondness for other non-barky dogs and would be happiest with a canine friend to share his days. He's a true nature lover, relishing long walks, quiet greetings with neighbors, and observing wildlife from the yard. Oscar explores the world at his own pace and thrives in peaceful environments.

Ideal Home

Oscar would thrive in a quiet household and neighborhood. He needs a patient adopter who can help him continue building his confidence, especially around sudden movements or loud noises. A home with a friendly, non-barky canine companion would be ideal for him.

Ongoing Health

Oscar recently had several painful teeth removed and is feeling much better. Additional dental care is planned.

Training & Support

Oscar is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on leash. He can get excited and rush outside for walks, but may be startled by passing cars or loud noises. For his safety, he must be leashed, and further threshold training will be beneficial. While he's still learning to fully trust physical affection, he's making great progress. He can be startled by squeaky toys and barking dogs, so sensitive handling is key.
