About Trooper

Hi there! My name is Trooper, and I’m a handsome, strong 5-year-old guy weighing in at about 125 pounds. I’ll admit—I could stand to lose a few pounds, but with the right home, I’ll get there! The wonderful volunteers at GRCGLA Rescue saved me from a shelter, and now I’m living the good life in a loving foster home while I wait for my perfect forever family. I’m not in a rush—I know the right match is out there, and I’m willing to wait for it. Once I get to know you, I am VERY friendly and loyal—but I do take a little time to warm up. I’m not a big fan of head pats right away, but if you earn my trust, I absolutely love a good hip or butt scratch. That’s the fast track to becoming my best friend! I’m an excellent houseguest. I’m perfectly content relaxing at home while my foster mom is at work, and I truly enjoy my downtime—especially lounging on the couch. Give me a short daily walk, and I’m a happy guy. I also LOVE car rides and am always up for an adventure. I may not be perfect (but hey, who is?), but I’m a really wonderful dog with so much love to give. My foster mom adores me and would be happy to talk with anyone interested. If she thinks we’re a good match, you can come meet us both! Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for?

Ideal Home

I’m looking for an experienced dog owner who will appreciate me for who I am and continue my training to help me be my very best. I thrive in a calm, quieter home—no constant parties or a revolving door of guests. A relaxed lifestyle with a small social circle suits me just fine. I’d prefer to be the only dog in the home. I do have a strong prey drive, so no cats for me.

Training & Support

I’m looking for an experienced owner who will continue my training to help me be my very best. I had a tough experience with another dog in the shelter, but I’ve made great progress with training and continue to improve on walks. My future family should be committed to helping me build confidence as I keep learning.
