Canela is a spirited and affectionate young Australian Kelpie mix, approximately one year old and weighing around 33 lbs. She's a bundle of joy, known for her intelligence, loyalty, and high energy. Canela loves to play and is incredibly friendly and social with both people and other dogs. She has a funny habit of jumping up for cuddles, just like a tiny Chihuahua! She's always up for an adventure, making her the perfect companion for an active lifestyle. Canela was found alone and playing in the street, and since being rescued, she has shown immense love and resilience. She's eager to find a forever home where she can share her boundless energy and affectionate nature.
Ideal Home
Canela would thrive in a home with an active family who enjoys outdoor activities and has a fenced backyard. She would do best with adopters experienced in dog behavior and training, or those willing to hire a trainer to help her reach her full potential. Due to her past experiences, she requires a home with high tolerance and patience. She is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Canela has been spayed and is up-to-date on vaccinations, including DHPPI and Rabies. She is microchipped, dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm. She is on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Canela can get bored if she doesn't have enough stimulation, which may lead to chewing on objects, especially plastic. Providing her with plenty of toys and guidance will help her thrive. She may also bark at unfamiliar noises due to her alert nature. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may need time to adjust to a new environment and people, and patience is crucial for building trust and a strong bond.

Transportation
Canela is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast. Transport is available through a contracted company that organizes scheduled trips to deliver pets directly to your door. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD applies.
