Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has overcome a difficult start in life. Rescued as part of an abuse and neglect case, she weighed only 18 lbs at six months old. It took months for her to learn that gentleness meant love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl ready to find a family who will offer her the safety and devotion she deserves. She's outgoing, smart, and loves car rides, heavy chew toys, and being near her people. While she may initially be shy with strangers, she warms up quickly and enjoys attention once she feels secure.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae adores children of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She has a moderate activity level, enjoying walks, playtime, and exploration, but she also knows how to relax. She would do wonderfully as an only pet and doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are essential, and she'd do best with a calm, confident companion. She thrives in a home that understands her past, provides gentle structure, and celebrates her happy, goofy, and affectionate nature.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This requires occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes, but no specific treatment is needed.
Training & Support
Daisy Mae is great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, she eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating, so she's happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment. She has an enthusiastic, playful personality and loves to romp with other dogs once comfortable, though she can be a bit bossy during play and benefits from slow introductions. She does best with balanced or confident dogs who can handle her enthusiasm.
