Shadow

Meet Shadow, also known as His Royal Highness! This 15-year-old, 12-pound Yorkie mix is a small but mighty character with a heart of gold. Shadow's journey to find his forever home began when he was surrendered to a shelter in Louisiana and transported to Wisconsin. We believe he may have experienced mistreatment in the past, so he's looking for a patient and understanding adopter to help him feel safe and loved. Shadow enjoys his daily walks and occasional zoomies in the backyard, but he's also a big fan of a good snooze.

Ideal Home

Shadow would do best in a home with adults and older children. He prefers to be the only pet, as he finds other dogs "cramped his style," and he's not a fan of cats.

Ongoing Health

Shadow is managing Stage 2/3 kidney disease with a special diet and supplements. He may also be experiencing some hearing loss, which can cause him to startle at loud noises. He recently had a dental cleaning and still has all his teeth!

Training & Support

Shadow can be a bit aloof until he feels safe, but he warms up quickly when he knows you're friendly. He can be a bit vocal when you leave but settles down once he's comfortable. He's doing well with house training, using a diaper and belly band when he needs to be left alone for longer periods or at night. He walks happily on a leash and will let you know when he's ready to head back.
