Dozer is an approximately 5-year-old, 26 lb bundle of love who has overcome a difficult past and is blossoming into the sweetest, most affectionate companion. With a little patience and understanding, he truly shines. He's incredibly sweet once he feels safe and secure, and he's already showing excellent house manners, though he'll need a little time to adjust to a new routine. Dozer keeps his crate clean and is highly food motivated – he goes wild for treats like cookies, carrots, and peanut butter! He's even starting to seek out attention and enjoys gentle affection, especially head scratches. Plus, he absolutely loves playing with other dogs!
Ideal Home
Dozer needs a home that understands he can be a flight risk and will require him to be leashed at all times initially, even in a fenced yard, until he's fully settled. He may vocalize when crated with the door closed. Most importantly, Dozer thrives with a canine companion and needs another dog in the home to gain confidence.
Ongoing Health
Dozer was treated for heartworms in November of both 2019 and 2020. He may test positive for up to a year post-treatment.
Training & Support
Dozer is a wonderful dog whose good qualities far outweigh his challenges. He's looking for a patient, understanding home that will provide the time and security he needs to fully come out of his shell and shine.
