Meet Benson!

Benson is a gentle, five-year-old mixed breed with a soft cream coat and soulful eyes. He's a large, 75-pound companion with a thoughtful charm, blending the affectionate nature of a retriever with the intelligence of his unique breed mix, which includes American Pitbull Terrier, German Shepherd, and Chow Chow. Benson is happiest when he's close to his people, whether on a car ride, lounging by the window, or snuggling in for quiet evenings. He knows an impressive list of commands and enjoys chasing balls, enrichment games, swimming, and chewing. Benson can be sensitive to sudden movements or sounds and may take a moment to warm up, but once he connects, he is deeply devoted, loving, and attentive with impeccable house manners. This intuitive boy is in tune with emotions and forms strong bonds, offering comfort by leaning in or curling up beside you when needed.

Ideal Home

Benson would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard that is at least six feet tall, as he has been known to jump fences. He needs a home where he feels safe, supported, and understood. He is not compatible with cats and needs an adult-only home.

Ongoing Health

Benson requires medication to manage allergies and support his emotional balance.

Training & Support

Benson walks well overall but can pull on leash, so continued guidance and positive reinforcement training will help him stay focused. He is selective with other dogs and can be reactive with unfamiliar ones, needing a thoughtful, well-managed environment. While he has lived with multiple dogs, he would do best as the only dog in a home or with a caregiver experienced in structured, gradual introductions supported by positive reinforcement training.
