Meet Penny, a 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix with a bright spirit, big heart, and a whole lot of love to give. Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives in an environment where she can stay active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always on the lookout for her next adventure or someone to cuddle. Penny is incredibly affectionate and emotionally tuned into her people, giving love back tenfold once she feels safe and understood. She's a sweet, sensitive soul who's eager to bond deeply with her forever person or people.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in a home that provides structure, patience, and understanding. She needs a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy in positive ways. A home that doesn't expect perfection right away and can give her time to relax into a routine would be ideal. She would also do best in a home without cats, as she has shown prey-driven behavior toward them outdoors.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She has shown signs of needing reassurance and calm, consistent care, and may flinch easily, suggesting she may have experienced past trauma. She can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs, but this is manageable with clear boundaries and respectful management, and she has made great progress in foster care.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and has done well when confined to a designated area when home alone, though she is still learning to be fully comfortable with separation. She has not been crate trained yet and prefers to be close to her people, sometimes whining or barking when separated. She can be trusted loose in the house when items are picked up and food is put away, but she may chew on dog beds when bored. Leash walks are a favorite activity, and she settles in with guidance. She would love an adopter who enjoys walks, hikes, runs, or sniffy adventures.
